A Guided Exploration Like No Other
Led by one of our knowledgeable AYANA Farm experts, the farm walk offers a unique opportunity to explore the enchanting world of sustainable agriculture. Designed with the ethos of botanical gardens in mind, our farm features various sections, each with its own educational theme. From learning about the vital role of edible flowers to exploring traditional staple crops and medicinal plants, every stop provides exciting insights into the beauty and utility of plants.
Your journey begins in the Edible Flower Garden, a vibrant display of nature’s palette. Here, you’ll discover how these blossoms attract pollinators while savoring their delicate flavors, guided by our skilled farmers. This colorful introduction sets the stage for everything that follows.
Next, you’ll wander along the Fibonacci Walk, where captivating patterns of nature await. This section showcases plants such as moringa, long beans, and pineapples—each an example of the Fibonacci sequence, reflecting nature’s design for efficiency and growth. From a bird’s-eye view, the pathway itself follows the Fibonacci pattern, leading you to a mesmerizing central mandala garden.
Continuing your stroll, you’ll arrive at our Plant Nursery, where the life journey of our plants begins. We nurture our seedlings using organic methods and rich compost created on-site. Our root ball technique wraps seedlings in compost to foster strong roots before they’re transplanted into the farm beds. Look closely, and you’ll notice our use of recycled materials in the infrastructure, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability.
Next, explore the Chef’s Garden, a special area focusing on larger production demands while maintaining organic practices, including crop rotation and using nutrient-rich compost and mulch.
As you make your way to the Traditional Foods Area, you’ll be captivated by an array of local staples, like sorghum, cassava, and various beans. Here, you’ll also discover our tranquil pond—a vital feature of our mini-ecosystem that supports various organisms, providing essential water during drier months.
In the Medicinal Plant Garden, you’ll learn about ingredients used in traditional herbal remedies known as jamu. Recognized as a tangible cultural heritage by UNESCO, this section plays a crucial role in preserving Indonesia’s rich herbal knowledge. Our jamu workshops, led by Jamu & Spice, utilize ingredients from this very garden, deepening your appreciation for the connection between nature and wellness, as well as the importance of sustainable practices.
Wander past the Canang Sari Garden, where you’ll discover plants used in Balinese daily offerings—celebrating traditions and the environment. Plus, our Herb Garden, featuring selected varieties grown in raised beds crafted from local Jimbaran limestone, showcases aromatic wonders that enhance our culinary creations
