Is AYANA Bali Worth It for Couples?
What couples love most about AYANA Bali is that no two days ever need to look the same. One day might start with a slow breakfast overlooking the ocean before an afternoon spent poolside with a cocktail in hand. The next could be all about spa treatments, sunset drinks at Rock Bar and a romantic dinner by the water. With so many pools, restaurants, experiences and places to explore, it is easy to fill your days without ever feeling like you are repeating yourself.
That's a big reasons AYANA Bali works so well for couples. Whether you are celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, babymoon or simply escaping everyday life together, the resort creates countless opportunities for memorable moments. Better still, everything is so easy. You are not spending your days organising transport, deciding where to go next, or sitting in traffic. Instead, you can focus on spending quality time together. For us, that is where the real luxury lies.
Another reason AYANA Bali works so well for Australian couples is that many of us have a different relationship with Bali than other international visitors. For Australians, Bali is often somewhere we return to again and again. We do not always feel the need to cram every temple, beach club and tourist attraction into a single trip because there is a good chance we will be back.
That is what makes AYANA Bali such a great choice for couples looking to truly unwind. You can spend your days moving between beautiful pools, long lunches, sunset cocktails and memorable dinners without ever feeling bored or like you are missing out. Instead of racing around Bali trying to do everything, you can focus on slowing down and enjoying each other's company.
The Most Romantic Dinner at AYANA Bali
If we could recommend just one romantic splurge during your stay, it would be dining on the KISIK jetty. We celebrated our own 10-year wedding anniversary here and it remains one of our favourite memories from AYANA Bali.
Set out over the water, the private jetty feels incredibly special from the moment you arrive. As the sun begins to set and the sky changes colour around you, it feels like something straight out of a movie. Add fresh seafood, attentive service and the sound of the ocean surrounding you, and it is easy to see why so many couples choose this experience for proposals, anniversaries and milestone celebrations.
Even years later, it is still the first experiences we think about when somebody asks us about romantic dining in Bali.
Why Nobody Forgets Their First Rock Bar Sunset
There are very few Bali experiences that genuinely live up to the hype. Rock Bar is one of them. Perched on the rocks above the ocean, it is one of those places that instantly makes you stop and take it all in. The waves crash against the cliffs below, cocktail shakers are working overtime behind the bar, the music is playing, and slowly the sky begins putting on its nightly show.
Nobody forgets their first visit to Rock Bar. Whether you stop by for sunset drinks or stay for dinner, it is one of those experiences that becomes part of your Bali story.
A Couples Experience Unlike Anywhere Else
One of our favourite experiences at AYANA Bali is the famous Thalassotherapy Pool. What makes it so special is that it is something you experience together.
Unlike a traditional massage where you are mostly relaxing separately, the Thalassotherapy Pool allows couples to move through the various seawater therapy stations side by side. You can chat, laugh and enjoy the experience together while taking in the incredible clifftop views.
It feels indulgent, unique and unlike anything most couples have experienced before. For couples looking for something a little different from the usual spa day, this is one experience we would not miss.
Our Favourite Pool for Couples
If you’ve ever wondered about those Instagrammable photos of Bali hotels with infinity pools, the one we consistently recommend to couples is the Ocean Beach Pool.
Reserved for guests aged 12 and over, it offers a much calmer atmosphere than some of the family-focused areas of the resort. Positioned right on the edge of the ocean, it feels like a front-row seat to one of Bali's best views. We especially love it at high tide when waves splash up beside the pool.
Settle into the daybeds with a cocktail, a good book and nowhere else to be, and it is surprisingly easy to lose an entire afternoon here. It feels relaxed, luxurious and wonderfully removed from the rest of the world.
Where Should Couples Stay?
AYANA Villas Bali is the most romantic accomodation option address within the resort, and well worth the splurge if you're marking something special. With a private pool, huge garden and complete privacy, it feels tailor-made for honeymoons, anniversaries and special celebrations. Couples can even arrange romantic dining experiences beside their own pool, creating those pinch-me moments that stay with you long after the trip ends.
That said, we honestly think most couples will be perfectly happy at AYANA Resort Bali. It places you close to many of the resort's most iconic experiences, including Rock Bar, KISIK, the Ocean Beach Pool and some of the spectacular cliff-top views that have made AYANA Bali famous.
A Different Date Night Every Evening
The things couples often underestimate before arriving is just how much dining choice there is. With more than 30 restaurants, cafes and bars across AYANA Bali, you could easily enjoy a different dining experience every night of your stay.
One evening might be fresh seafood at KISIK. The next could be Japanese fine dining at Honzen, where it genuinely feels like you have stepped into Japan. Another might be Mediterranean dishes at Scusa, after sunset cocktails at Luna Rooftop Bar overlooking the ocean. It is the reasons couples rarely find themselves wanting to leave the property.
Our Perfect Couples Day at AYANA Bali
The reasons we love AYANA Bali for couples is how easy it is to create a day that feels special without trying too hard. Our perfect day starts with a slow breakfast, taking our time over coffee and enjoying the views before the day begins.
From there, we head to the Thalassotherapy Pool. It feels indulgent, but because you experience it together, it is also surprisingly social and fun. Lunch is usually at Honzen, where the authentic Japanese setting and beautifully prepared sushi and sashimi make it feel like a destination in itself.
The afternoon is reserved for the Ocean Beach Pool, where we settle in for a few hours, enjoy a cocktail and soak up the incredible ocean views. As sunset approaches, it is time for Rock Bar. Few places in Bali do sunset better.
Dinner might be at Scusa, where the Mediterranean menu and romantic atmosphere make it a favourite for couples. It is a simple day, but it captures everything we love about AYANA Bali.
Final Thoughts
If there is one thing couples take home from an AYANA Bali stay, it is not just photos of beautiful sunsets or memorable meals. It is the collection of moments that seemed to happen naturally.
The slow breakfasts that turned into lazy afternoons by the pool. The spontaneous sunset cocktail that became the highlight of the trip. The dinner that felt like a celebration even when there was nothing specific to celebrate.
For us, that is what makes AYANA Bali so special. The luxury and convenience create space for unforgettable moments. For Australians who visit Bali regularly, that can be far more valuable than trying to squeeze every attraction on the island into a single trip.
Instead, AYANA Bali gives couples permission to slow down, reconnect and enjoy being together. Long after the holiday is over, those are the moments that tend to stay with you.
