At the gateway to Komodo National Park, AYANA Komodo Waecicu Beach opens the year by highlighting its environmental stewardship and community impact, reflecting on its initiatives carried out across 2024 and 2025. Shaped by close collaboration with local communities, schools, conservation organizations, and government partners, these programs underscore AYANA Komodo’s belief that luxury travel is inseparable from care for place, people, and heritage.

Across West Manggarai and the wider East Nusa Tenggara region, AYANA Komodo’s environmental and social impact programs focus on initiatives with tangible, long-term impact. In 2024, efforts centered on supporting conservation in Komodo National Park, protecting marine ecosystems through coral planting and ocean awareness activities, and nurturing early education through National Children’s Day programs. Building on this foundation, 2025 saw the resort broaden its engagement through reforestation initiatives, marine education workshops, blood donation drives in partnership with local health authorities, humanitarian assistance during regional volcanic activity, and continued cultural and community-based programs.

Environmental conservation remains at the heart of AYANA Komodo’s approach. At sea, marine conservation continues just steps from the resort’s shoreline, where coral restoration programs conducted in front of AYANA Komodo’s jetty have rehabilitated approximately 427 square meters of reef using a range of transplantation methods. Today, the restored reef functions as a growing marine habitat and refuge for more than 150 observed species of fish, as well as an immersive conservation and education platform for guests and visiting students, offering a rare opportunity to witness reef recovery firsthand.

On land, this commitment extends to reforestation efforts across the West Manggarai District. Through two tree-planting initiatives carried out with environmental partners, more than 1,000 seedlings representing over 15 tree species were planted across school and community lands, spanning approximately one hectare. These plantings support biodiversity, strengthen local ecosystems, and create living classrooms that encourage long-term environmental stewardship within the community.

Alongside environmental initiatives, AYANA Komodo Waecicu Beach continues to strengthen community wellbeing through blood donation programs, support for local elementary schools and orphanages, contributions to Komodo National Park, and emergency assistance during times of need. In 2026, new initiatives will include expansion of its coral restoration area and commemorating World Food Day in October with a food waste campaign and nutritious food donations to the local community.

As Labuan Bajo’s profile continues to rise, the resort remains committed to ensuring that growth is guided by responsibility, resilience, and respect for the region and its people.
