AYANA Bali Recognized with ASEAN Green Hotel Award 2026–2028

AYANA Bali has been recognized with the ASEAN Green Hotel Award 2026–2028, a regional tourism standard that acknowledges hotels across Southeast Asia demonstrating measurable commitments to environmental responsibility and sustainable operations.

Presented during the ASEAN Tourism Standards Awards in Cebu, Philippines as part of the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2026, the award follows a multi-stage evaluation and nomination process involving national-level assessment, operational verification, and regional review. In Indonesia, hotels must first qualify through domestic sustainability evaluations before being nominated for ASEAN-level consideration.

For AYANA Bali, the recognition reflects an ongoing process across its 90-hectare integrated resort destination in Jimbaran, where sustainability initiatives span infrastructure, procurement, waste management, water systems, biodiversity, and community engagement. Operating at this scale means environmental decisions carry tangible consequences across four hotels, extensive event facilities, landscaped grounds, multiple swimming pools, and 31 dining venues.

Rather than focusing on isolated initiatives, AYANA Bali approaches sustainability as part of daily resort management. Existing systems include energy-efficiency programs, wastewater recycling infrastructure, reductions in single-use plastics, local sourcing partnerships, and waste separation practices designed to support resource recovery and improve the handling of materials before disposal.

Environmental infrastructure across the resort includes solar energy systems with a current capacity of 854 kWp, alongside a growing fleet of electric vehicles operating throughout the estate. Advanced water treatment systems recycle treated wastewater for irrigation and operational reuse, reducing pressure on freshwater resources while supporting the resort’s extensive green spaces.

Biodiversity and landscape stewardship also form part of AYANA Bali’s sustainability approach. The resort includes preserved green spaces such as Tevana Garden, a six-hectare botanical environment home to diverse tropical plant species and native birdlife. AYANA Farm, the resort’s two-hectare organic farm, supplies herbs, fruits, vegetables, and edible flowers to restaurants across the property while supporting guest education around regenerative agriculture and food systems.

The resort’s sustainability efforts also extend into community partnerships and educational initiatives. AYANA Bali works with local suppliers, waste partners, schools, and social enterprises across Bali, while internal sustainability practices are supported through ongoing staff engagement and training programs. Collaborations with organizations such as Green Camp Bali provide environmental education experiences focused on resource management and circular thinking.

The resort also recognizes that sustainability challenges in Bali, particularly those related to waste management, require long-term collaboration across government, communities, businesses, and households. Within this broader context, AYANA Bali views its responsibility as continuing to improve practices within its own ecosystem and scale of operations through practical and evolving systems. Across the island, growing collaboration between communities, hospitality operators, and independent waste-management organizations is contributing to more localized and practical approaches to waste reduction and material reuse.

At AYANA Bali, this includes ongoing efforts to strengthen waste management processes across the resort, such as processing food waste into animal feed through a local community-based partnership, composting garden waste for landscape reuse, and reducing single-use plastics through refillable amenities and reusable alternatives.

AYANA Bali continues to review opportunities to strengthen its on-site organic waste management capabilities, including the introduction of additional composting infrastructure. These efforts are intended to support evolving expectations around waste reduction, reuse, and responsible material management.

The ASEAN Green Hotel Award adds to AYANA Bali’s broader sustainability journey, which in 2025 also included achieving EarthCheck Gold Certification following five consecutive years of independently audited environmental performance. Together, these recognitions reflect AYANA Bali’s continued effort to integrate environmental accountability into large-scale hospitality operations through long-term investment and ongoing improvement.
